Alabama emerging artist Tyne Seymour is a 22-year-old composer, pianist, arranger, and bandleader. His original music explores the possibilities of hard bop, swing, and modal music through a modern approach, informed by the work of Wayne Shorter, Thelonious Monk, and McCoy Tyner. At the piano, Seymour brings a strong rhythmic feel, expressive technical lines, and angular phrasing to his playing, developing a blues-drenched, rooted in bebop tradition, and yet distinctly modern sound. His arrangements reimagine popular music, bringing new interpretations to popular repertoire through improvisation and interaction within his group. His band demonstrates a distinctively high level of musicality, with a deep understanding of authentic swing feel.
